group magazine: July-August, 2011
thanks I wanted to thank Dr. Youth (May/June 2011) for fielding and answering questions. I realize we all work in a stress-filled and tense occupation, and it is so comforting receiving some good-natured, fun answers. Maybe we need to spend more time laughing and enjoying life? Thanks for keeping us real. And in his Q&A with Jeanne Mayo, Doug Fields asked her how to recruit leaders. She suggested using a card with three students' stories on them. Jon Batch no more boneheads I found Jeremy Steele's "Top Ten Bonehead Mistakes We Make With Our Messages" (May/June 2011) to be a very helpful article, despite its long title. Steele covers several topics that I've noticed in messages, even those given by senior ministers. If you ever give messages to students, you need to read this article and apply a few of the principles to your preparation and execution of your talks. Mike Kupferer letters We'd love to hear your feedback; send your thoughts to editor@groupmag.com. RANDOM EXTRA INTRODUCING—THE ANDY BUBBLE Andy Brazelton kept bugging us for a spot in the magazine so we offered him the random, yet prestigious, snarky remark bubble. Enjoy.
